Novella Leimberg has been involved in the healing arts since 1995 and is a California Board licensed acupuncturist. Novella is trained in various healing traditions and techniques such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western herbalism, Chumash herbalism, Tuina among other holistic healing traditions. Along with studying Taoism, Buddhism and Shamanism, Novella became well educated with Esoteric Acupuncture taught by Dr. Mikio Sankey.  Novella provided services to the HIV positive community through the not for profit organization “Being Alive” as well as Venice Family Clinic-Burke Health Center—Pain clinic department.

She has worked in complementary medical settings with MD’s, chiropractors and other acupuncturists, successfully treating patients for a variety of conditions. Her time at Oakland Community Acupuncture, which treats professional athletes, allowed her to build on her chronic pain management skills.

Not only does Novella practice techniques she has cultivated over the years, she also educates the public. Her appearance on the Doctors TV show demonstrates how acupuncture can alleviate menopausal symptoms such a hot-flashes.  Novella specializes in a warm herbal therapy massage where she employs botanicals including green papaya that is steamed in Chinese herbs and rice wine as agents to counteract inflammatory states in the body. She also uses joint mobilization, cupping and moxibustion to aid in relieving symptoms.
